This Student/Parent Privacy Policy explains how MyEdu and schools using MyEdu process personal data relating to students, parents, guardians, and other family-linked users who access the platform or MyEdu Student application.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to:
- students;
- parents and guardians;
- family-linked users with access to student records or school communications;
- users of the MyEdu Student mobile application and related parent/student web services.

3. Data We May Process About Students and Parents

We or the relevant school may process:
- student names, admission numbers, class/section details, and school records;
- parent or guardian names, relationship details, contact numbers, email addresses, and addresses;
- attendance, results, assignments, announcements, and notification records;
- fee-related or payment-related metadata where such features are enabled;
- communication records such as notices, support interactions, and chat messages where available;
- login records, device identifiers, app version, IP address, and technical usage data.

4. Children’s Data

Because MyEdu is used by schools, some data processed through the platform relates to children. The relevant school is responsible for ensuring that student and guardian data is collected and used lawfully and appropriately.

MyEdu expects schools and authorized users to apply appropriate confidentiality, role-based access, and responsible handling of student-related data.

5. Why This Data Is Used

Student and parent data may be used to:
- create and manage student and guardian access;
- support attendance, academic reporting, assignments, and school communication;
- deliver notifications, announcements, and app-based updates;
- support fee visibility, payment workflows, and account history where enabled;
- provide service support, improve reliability, and maintain security;
- comply with legal obligations and lawful requests from competent authorities.

6. Role of the School and MyEdu

In most cases:
- the school is the primary controller of student and parent data used in school operations;
- MyEdu acts as a processor or service provider supporting the school’s use of that data.

For system support, security, billing, and platform-level operations, MyEdu may act as a controller of its own operational data.

7. Sharing of Student and Parent Data

Data may be shared only where reasonably necessary, including with:
- authorized school administrators, teachers, and staff according to role-based permissions;
- parents or guardians with lawful access to the relevant student’s information;
- MyEdu technical or support personnel where support is required;
- hosting, messaging, notification, analytics, or payment service providers supporting the platform;
- authorities where disclosure is required by law.

We do not sell personal data.

8. Security

We apply technical and organizational measures intended to protect student and parent data, including access restrictions, authentication safeguards, logging, and operational monitoring. Parents, guardians, and other users must keep login credentials secure and avoid sharing access improperly.

9. Retention

Student and parent data may be retained for school operations, reporting, lawful educational record-keeping, support, security, dispute handling, and compliance with applicable legal obligations.

10. Rights and Requests

Students, parents, and guardians may have rights under applicable law to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or other lawful handling of personal data where applicable.

Because most student and parent records are controlled by the relevant school, requests should usually be directed first to the school administration. Platform-level privacy requests may also be directed to MyEdu.
