MyEdu school Management Privacy Policy

Global Technology Service ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of users ("you" or "your") of our MyEdu school Management software (the "Software"), including the web version and mobile applications. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your personal information. By using the Software, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

1.1 Information Provided by Schools:

Schools using the Software will input data about students, parents, teachers, and staff. This may include:

*   Student Information: Name, date of birth, gender, contact information, academic records, attendance records, disciplinary records, health information (if provided by the school), and other educational information.
*   Parent/Guardian Information: Name, contact information, relationship to student.
*   Teacher/Staff Information: Name, contact information, qualifications, employment history, and other relevant information.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically:

When you use the Software, we may automatically collect certain information, including:

*   Device Information: Type of device, operating system, browser type, IP address, device identifiers.
*   Usage Information: How you use the Software, including pages visited, features used, and time spent in the Software.
*   Log Information: Server logs, which may include IP addresses, access times, and other technical information.

1.3 Information from Third Parties:

We may receive information about you from third parties, such as payment processors, if you use integrated services.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

1.  Providing the Software: To provide and maintain the Software, including its features and functionality.
2.  School Administration: To enable schools to manage student data, track academic progress, communicate with parents, and perform other administrative tasks.
3.  Communication: To communicate with schools, users, and parents/guardians regarding the Software, updates, and support.
4.  Improving the Software: To analyze usage patterns and improve the Software's functionality and user experience.
5.  Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations.
6.  Analytics: To generate aggregated and anonymized data for statistical purposes.

3. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information with the following parties:

*   Schools: Student, parent, and teacher/staff information is shared with the school using the Software. We act as a data processor on behalf of the school.
*   Service Providers: We may share information with third-party service providers who assist us with hosting, data storage, payment processing, and other services. We ensure these providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.
*   Legal Authorities: We may disclose information to legal authorities if required by law or legal process.
*   Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. These measures include encryption, access controls, regular security audits, Authentication, firewall, Software Updates and Patching, and Regular Review and Updates. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Software to the schools and as required by applicable law.  Specifically, school data will be retained for two (2) weeks following the termination of a school's subscription to the Software. After this two-week period, and subject to any legal holds, the school's data will be securely wiped from our systems using industry-standard data sanitization methods.  Prior to termination, schools will have the option to export their data in CSV format.  Notwithstanding the foregoing, data may be retained for longer periods if required by law, legal process, or a valid legal hold. Backups of school data will be deleted within 30 days after the two-week retention period.

6. Children's Privacy

Our Software may be used by schools with students under the age of 12. We collect information from these students only with the consent of their parents or guardians, and we only use this information for educational purposes. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 12 without parental consent.

7. Your Rights

Depending on applicable laws and regulations, users of the Software, including schools, staff, parents, and students (as appropriate), may have certain rights regarding their personal data. These rights may include:

   Access: You may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you.
   Correction/Rectification: You may have the right to correct or update any inaccuracies in your personal data.  Schools using the Software will have the ability to edit, delete, and create data related to students, staff, and other school information within the system.
   Deletion/Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): In certain circumstances, you may have the right to request the deletion of your personal data.  Schools, as the primary controllers of student and staff data, will have the ability to delete such information within the Software, subject to legal and regulatory requirements.  Please note that we may be required to retain certain data for legal or administrative purposes.
   Data Portability: You may have the right to receive a copy of your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and to transmit that data to another controller.  Schools will have the ability to create backups of their data and upload backups into the system.
   Objection/Restriction of Processing: You may have the right to object to or restrict the processing of your personal data under certain circumstances.
   Withdrawal of Consent: If we process your personal data based on your consent, you may have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.

Schools using the Software have the ability to customize the app to a certain degree based on their preferences.  This customization relates to the user interface and configuration of the Software's features and does not typically involve the processing of additional personal data beyond what is outlined in this policy.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact the school directly, as they are the primary controllers of the student, staff, and school data.  If you have questions or concerns about how the school is processing your data, you may also contact us at compliance@globaltechnologyservice.com. We will assist schools, to the extent possible, in fulfilling data subject requests.

8. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by email and in-app notification.
